CATEGORIES OF OSMT MEMBERSHIP
VOTING
Active Technologist
Annual Membership Fee ($126.00 includes GST)
An Active Technologist member shall be a technologist currently employed in a situation which requires the use of knowledge of medical laboratory technology.
Inactive Technologist
Annual Membership Fee ($100.80 incl. GST)
An Inactive Technologist member shall be a technologist not currently employed in a situation which requires the use of knowledge of medical laboratory technology.
Active Laboratory Technician
Annual Membership Fee ($126.00 incl. GST)
An Active Laboratory Technician member shall have obtained
certification from the OSMT, or a program that has been deemed
equivalent to OSMT certification and be actively
employed in a situation which requires the use of knowledge to work as a
laboratory technician.
Inactive Laboratory Technician
Annual Membership Fee ($100.80 incl. GST)
An Inactive Laboratory Technician member shall have obtained
certification from the OSMT, or a program that has been deemed
equivalent to OSMT certification, and not be
currently employed in a situation which requires the use of knowledge to
work as a laboratory technician.
Active Laboratory Assistant
Annual Membership Fee ($126.00 incl. GST)
An Active Laboratory Assistant member shall have obtained
certification from a recognized organization that has not been deemed
equivalent to the OSMT certification, and be actively
employed in a situation which requires the use of knowledge to work as a
laboratory assistant.
Inactive Laboratory Assistant
An Inactive Laboratory Assistant member shall have obtained certification from a recognized organization that has not been deemed equivalent to OSMT certification, and not be currently employed in a situation which requires the use of knowledge to work as a laboratory technician.
Retired Technologist
Annual Membership Fee ($25.20 incl. GST)
A Retired Technologist member shall have retired from gainful employment which required the use of knowledge of medical laboratory technology, have been a member in good standing for the most recent ten (10) years and attained the age of fifty (50) years. Application must be made by letter of request to the Board of Directors.
Retired Laboratory Technician
Annual Membership Fee ($25.20 incl. GST)
A Retired Laboratory Technician member shall have retired from
gainful employment which required the use of knowledge to work as a
Laboratory Technician, have been a member in good standing for
the most recent ten (10) years, and attained the age of fifty (50)
years. Application must be made by letter of request to the Board of
Directors.
Retired Laboratory Assistant
Annual Membership Fee ($25.20 incl. GST)
A Retired Laboratory Assistant member shall have retired from
gainful employment which required the use of knowledge to work as a
Laboratory Assistant, have been a member in good standing for
the most recent ten (10) years, and attained the age of fifty (50)
years. Application must be made by letter of request to the Board of
Directors.
Honorary
No Fee Payable
An Honorary member shall be an
individual who has been recommended for honorary membership for
outstanding services and contributions to the field of medical laboratory
technology, subject to approval by the Board of Directors. The
recommendation shall be signed by not fewer than 10 active members of the
Corporation.
NON-VOTING
Affiliate
An Affiliate member shall be an individual or organization who is concerned with the enhancement of laboratory technology and who wishes to have a formal association with a professional body. Affiliate members shall include laboratory personnel, healthcare providers, educators, and other stakeholders, who do not qualify for membership in the other categories. (professional liability insurance coverage is not included).
Student
A Student member shall be currently enrolled in a recognized medical laboratory technology, or an OSMT-approved assistant/technician education program.
Subscriber
Annual Membership Fee ($126.00 incl. GST)
A Subscriber receives OSMT publications only.** Please note: For persons who choose to make partial payments, your membership card and receipt will not be mailed until the final payment has been processed.
