MLT Scope of Practice Review
The Health Professions Advisory Council (HPRAC) has completed its recommendations on the scope of practice for medical laboratory technology which are covered in Chapter 5 of HPRAC's report Critical Link: Transforming and Supporting Patient Care. The Minster has invited responses to the Critical Links report from the stakeholders, the professions and the public.
While the CMLTO, OSMT, and CSMLS were all disappointed that none of our proposed changes are being recommended by HPRAC, the OSMT has a taken a somewhat different perspective of the processes and the outcomes. An explanation has been provided in a separate letter that the OSMT has sent to Minister Caplan.
